Yes, Gardens by the Bay, is what the government aims to use to enhance greening and flora in the city. It spans 101 hectares and is home to 80% of the world’s plant species. Although there are three gardens (i.e. Bay Central, Bay East and Bay South), I visited Bay South only as it is where most of the famous sights are located; and also the largest of the three.

I reached Bay South during the night, thus I was greeted by a dark sky which actually made the exhibits stand out, with all their flashing lights and splendour. I then arrived at the Supertree Grove.
It was a spectacular sight. Supertrees gained inspiration from the tall trees in a tropical rainforest, according to Gardens by the Bay. More than 200 species of flowering climbers are planted on them. At first, I thought that Singapore was wasting electricity building artificial towers with so many lights attached. However, I was amazed when I learnt about its uses. In the day, they provide shade with their large canopies. Not only that, 7 of them are some of the nine spots Gardens by the Bay uses to capture sunlight and convert it into solar energy by using photovoltaic panels. They harvest more than 100kWp of energy- which is enough to light up the decorative lights for all the super trees at night! Also, Biomass Boilers are fitted on them so that they can convert plant material into energy day or night. The ash produced by the boilers can even be used as high-grade fertiliser for plants there.
Altogether with the solar cells, 1 megawatt of energy can be produced daily for consumption in the park!

Then, I saw examples of a cavern:
I learnt that caverns are created when rainwater seeps through soft rock, such as limestone. ‘Chambers’ are spaces within a cavern. The Sarawak Chamber in Borneo is the biggest on Earth, spanning 800 tennis courts!
At Gardens by the Bay, nature prevails everywhere. There is much greenery and flora that has amazed me because I realised Singapore places so much of an emphasis on greening the country. I hope that I can go there again and visit more places as I went there very late this time, so I did not get a good view of many things and been to few places. I hope to get to as many places as possible like the bridge and the Flower dome/cloud forest.
